On May 24, 2014 around 1300 hours, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an address on Claude Martin Drive in response to a 22 month old male that had been struck by a Chevrolet Trailblazer. The vehicle was being driven by the child’s father. The child walked out of the garage and stood behind the vehicle as the vehicle was backing out of the garage. The child was struck by the rear bumper and then ran over with the back tire.
The father and mother of the child picked him up from underneath the vehicle and drove him immediately to the Forsyth County Fire Station 9, where firefighters called a helicopter to their location. The child was then transported by Children’s Health Care Critical Care Helicopter to Egleston Hospital, where he was treated by the critical care team.
The child is currently in stable condition and expected to recover from his injuries. The case was investigated by the Crash Investigations Unit and no charges are anticipated in this crash.
