Forsyth County Deputy Sheriff Josh Watson has been selected as the South Precinct’s Deputy of the Month for February, 2007 Precinct Commander Capt. Ron Freeman announced today.
Watson, who was employed with the Sheriff’s Office in August, 2003 was selected among his peers for his outstanding work during February. According to Captain Freeman, among the reasons Deputy Watson was nominated for this award is the manner in which he handled a theft call on February 26. On that day, he responded to the report of a theft of $3,300 at a business on Buford Dam Road.
A follow-up visit to the employer the next day revealed that one of the employees had contacted the employer, telling him to look in his mailbox. In the mailbox were about two-thirds of the missing funds. This information allowed our Criminal Investigations Division to arrest a suspect in the theft.
In addition, according to Deputy Watson’s Sergeant, “He (Watson) is always dependable and is one of my hard chargers”.
During the year, each Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Precinct recognizes a Deputy of the Month. At the end of each year, a Deputy of the Year is selected from the 12 monthly award winners. Each Deputy of the Month receives a framed certificate and gift certificates donated by local businesses.
