Seniors And Lawmen Together, a group committed to preventing the actual and feared victimization of senior citizens, consists of a partnership between the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the Cumming Police Department, and the Forsyth County Senior Center. Originally founded in 2005, S.A.L.T. was reorganized in 2007 to better serve senior citizens in Cumming and Forsyth County.
The group is run by the S.A.L.T. Advisory Council, a group of committed, motivated senior volunteers who decide upon programs that will benefit seniors and advise law enforcement on the special needs of seniors in the community.
S.A.L.T.’s objectives are based on those of the National Association of Triads, Inc. and it is a non-profit organization (501(c)(3)).
S.A.L.T. holds meetings at 10:00 am on the third Wednesday of every OTHER month at the Sgt. DP Land Memorial FOP Lodge, 248 Castleberry Industrial Dr, Cumming, GA. Topics at the meetings vary, but include those related to keeping Seniors safe, such as Shopping Safety, Fire Safety, Identity Theft, etc. Food is served at the monthly meetings. Transportation assistance is provided by the Forsyth County Senior Center (770) 781-2178.
Please join us! If you would like more information on joining S.A.L.T. or becoming a member, please contact Deputy Courtney Spriggs at (770) 205-4547.
