New procedures are in effect for concealed weapons permits.

All applicants, new or renewal, must now undergo a criminal records check.

The applicant must be at least 21 years of age and be a resident of Forsyth County. He or she must have an approved ID and submit a $39.00 fee payable by cash or money order to the Probate Court of Forsyth County.

This is a change from prior procedure.

Now, no portion of the application fee is payable directly to GCIC, and money orders payable to GCIC cannot be accepted.
