MAN CHARGED WITH DRAGGING DOG BEHIND CAR

 In Press Releases

Wednesday afternoon, just after 4:30 p.m., the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about a dog being dragged behind a vehicle. A witness reported seeing a German Shepherd tied with a leash to a pick-up truck driving on Ronald Reagan Blvd near State Route 141.

A Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office investigator in an unmarked vehicle observed the pick-up truck two minutes after the call was dispatched. The investigator stopped the vehicle due to the nature of the incident on Ronald Reagan Blvd and Majors Road. Patrol deputies responded minutes later and quickly determined the dog needed immediate attention from a veterinarian. A patrol deputy rushed the dog to a local animal hospital where it was treated for injuries to the front paws and bruising around the neck.

The male driver, 41 year-old Miguel Lechuga Sanchez of Cumming, GA, was arrested and charged with DUI, driving on a suspended license, and animal cruelty, all misdemeanors. He was taken to the Forsyth County Detention Center where he remains held at this time. Sanchez’s bond was set at $4680.50.
