SHERIFF’S OFFICE RIDE FOR YOUTH HOMES SET FOR OCTOBER 9
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office will hold its fourth annual Ride for Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes on Saturday, October 9, Sheriff Ted Paxton announced today. The ride is named the Sgt. David P. Land Memorial Ride to honor the memory of Sgt. Land, who died in March 2003 when his county motorcycle wrecked while he was responding to a emergency call.
“Our ride has consistently proven to be one of the most popular in North Georgia,” Sheriff Paxton said. “Each year it raises thousands of dollars for the Youth Homes,” he added.
Registration for the ride begins at 8:30 a.m. and the ride will start promptly at 10 a.m. Final destination is the Remember When Theatre in Helen, where lunch will be served and door prizes will be given out. Registration is $25 per motorcycle and includes a free commemorative t-shirt.
The ride will begin at Forsyth County’s Central Park, located on Hwy. 306, just west of GA 400 (Exit #17). Deputies from the Sheriff's Office will escort the ride.
Randy Snyder from Full Throttle Magazine will serve as Master of Ceremonies in Helen. Anyone with questions about the ride should contact Capt. Frank Huggins at (770) 781-3045.
