EXCESSIVE SPEED BLAMED IN FATAL CRASH

May 3, 2005

Excessive speed and inexperience are being blamed as the primary cause of a fatal one-car crash last night that claimed the life of a Cumming teenager last night.

According to Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialist Phil Alexander, the crash victim was identified as Julio Rivera Rodriguez, 15, of 5031 Kelly Mill Road in Cumming.

Rodriguez was traveling south on Bethelview Road about 10 p.m. in a 1990 Honda Accord when he lost control, left the roadway and collided with a utility pole.  The wreck occurred near the intersection of Bethelview and Aaron Sosebee Roads.  Rodriguez was alone in the car.

Rodriguez, who was unlicensed, carried no identification and was identified through a cell phone he had in his pocket, Alexander said.

No charges are anticipated to be filed in connection with the crash, Alexander said.
