AID FOR VICTIMS

8/31/05

The American Red Cross, Northeast Georgia Chapter has been asked by the National Office to set up a shelter large enough to accommodate hundreds, if not thousands of hurricane victims from the southeast coastal areas.  At this time, plans are underway to open a large shelter in the Gainesville area which will accommodate several hundred people.  Currently, the two shelters in Atlanta are at capacity and we are receiving people in Forsyth County.  The Place of Forsyth County, a United Way agency and organization which helps people in emergency situations is collecting a variety of items for their pantry for hurricane victims and also for transport to the shelter when it is opened.  United Way of Forsyth County will accept monetary donations designated to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, however the immediate need is for the following items which may be delivered to The Place.
