FORSYTH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

WET ROADS BLAMED

IN TRAFFIC FATALITY

Wednesday, June 18, 2003

Wet roads and stormy weather are being blamed for a two-car collision Friday afternoon June 13, that claimed the life of a 33 year-old man in south Forsyth County.

According to Investigator Chris Shelton, Traffic Specialist with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Prashanth Phalakshan, a native of India, was travelling south on McGinnis Ferry Road near McFarland Road when he lost control of his 1993 Chevrolet Camaro in a curve. The Camaro slid sideways into the northbound lane and collided with a 2002 Acura which was northbound. The wreck occurred at 3:10 p.m. during a heavy downpour of rain.

Phalakshan, who was here on a temporary work visa and scheduled to return to India on June 30, was ejected from his vehicle and died at the scene. The driver of the Acura, Suzanne Longfellow of Alpharetta, was transported by ambulance to North Fulton Medical Center where she was treated and released. Phalakshan was working at Siemans as an engineer.

No charges have been filed in connection with the wreck, which is currently under investigation.
