Newcomer Club Donates Funds for

K-9 Body Armor

The Forsyth County Newcomer Club has donated $400 to the Sheriff's Office for K-9 body armor.

The presentation of the funds came at the regular monthly meeting of the Newcomer club held on Thursday, December 18th.

In accepting the donation on behalf of the Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Ted Paxton said, "I'm happy to accept this on behalf of our agency and its employees."  "We're expecting a new K-9 member of the team soon, and these funds will be used to protect him," Sheriff Paxton added.

Body armor for a K-9 typically costs more than for a human being, Sheriff Paxton explained, because it is harder to manufacture and the fit has to be more exact.

The presentation was made by the club's president, Barbara Moran.  She said the funds were raised at a recent bazaar the club held as a fundraiser.

The Forsyth County Newcomer Club is a social club for new residents to our county.  Luncheon meetings are held at the Polo Golf & Country Club on the third Thursday of each month.  Anyone wishing more information on the club may contact Barbara Moran at (770) 888-7174.
