FORSYTH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

WRECK CLAIMS LIFE OF CUMMING MAN

October  6, 2003

A Cumming man has died from injuries he suffered in a wreck late Sunday afternoon. According to Inv. Phil Alexander, Traffic Specialist with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, the victim has been identified as Robert Joseph Brackob, 30, of Holbrook Road in Cumming.

The wreck occurred at approximately 5:25 p.m. on Wallace Tatum Road near Tatum Woods Drive. Brackob was travelling east on Wallace Tatum Road in his 1993 Isuzu Trooper when the vehicle suddenly left the roadway and struck a telephone pole, breaking the pole into two pieces. Brackob was partially ejected and the vehicle rolled over onto Brackob, temporarily trapping him. According to Alexander it does not appear that Brackob was wearing his seat belt when the crash occurred. Brackob was the only occupant of the vehicle.

Brackob suffered head and internal injuries and was flown by helicopter to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. He succumbed to his injuries at 10:48 p.m. last night.

An investigation into the cause of the wreck is continuing at this time. It is not known at this time if alcohol and/or excessive speed was involved.
