FORSYTH
Friday, October 31, 2003 The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has scheduled another of its popular Personal Safety Classes for Women, Sheriff Ted Paxton announced today. "With the holiday shopping season right around the corner, we felt it was important to offer this class again before Thanksgiving and Christmas," Sheriff Paxton said. The next class is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18 at the Sawnee Cultural Arts Center. The class will begin at 7 p.m. and will last about two hours. Participants will hear speakers on several subjects related to personal safety, including comments by Victim Advocate Brenda Hadaway about an experience she had while attending college. Participants in the classes receive valuable information on how to prevent becoming a victim of crime. Topics covered include crime prevention in the home, workplace and vehicle. Also covered in the class is use of personal protection devices, such as sprays, firearms and defensive tactics. Ladies interested in attending the class may register by calling Ms. Boyd at (770) 781-2222, ext. 3137. Class size is limited to 50 persons. An adult female must accompany ladies under the age of 17. The Personal Safety Class for Women is also available for neighborhood associations, church groups and businesses. If you have a group who would like to sponsor a class, please contact Ms. Boyd.
