Three persons were injured today, one seriously, in an early morning collision between a passenger car and a Forsyth County school bus.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a Nissan Sentra driven by 16 year-old Jenna Fitzgerald was headed southbound on Hwy. 306 when it crossed the centerline and collided with the northbound school bus. The accident occurred near the intersection of Hwy. 306 and Leland Road. The bus was driven by Janette Bennett, 29, of Gainesville. A 70 year-old bus monitor, Sara Holtzclaw of Cumming, was riding in the bus at the time.

The collision caused the bus to leave the roadway and overturn on an embankment. There were no school children on the bus at the time.

Holtzclaw was transferred by helicopter to North Fulton Regional Hospital in Roswell, where she underwent surgery on her leg. Bennett and Fitzgerald were treated and released at Baptist Medical Center in Cumming.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is being conducted by the State Patrol.
