March 27, 2002 A 22-year-old Alabama man died this morning after being struck by a vehicle in northwest Forsyth County. The victim, whose name is not being released at this time pending notification of relatives, was part of a work crew that was trimming tree branches on Nicholson Road. According to investigators with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialist Unit, the victim was standing in the roadway when he was struck by a 17-year-old male driving a 1991 Chevrolet S10 Blazer. The driver of the blazer was on his way to school when the incident occurred. The driver’s 15-year-old brother was also in the vehicle. The driver nor his passenger was injured in the incident. The victim was transported to Baptist Medical Center in Cumming where he was pronounced dead. He was employed by Asplhi, a tree service company based in Alabama. No charges have been filed at this time pending completion of the investigation. The incident occurred at approximately 7:59 a.m. on Nicholson Road, approximately one and a half miles from the intersection of Mt. Tabor Road. This is Forsyth County’s third traffic fatality in 2002. |
