Tuesday April 09, 2002 Sheriff Ted Paxton of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office announced today that Governor Roy Barnes has issued an executive order releasing $3,000 dollars for a reward fund for persons providing information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Syed Ali. Mr. Syed Ali was a taxi cab driver who was murdered in Forsyth County on February 5, 2002. Mr. Ali picked up a cab patron at the Chamblee Marta Station in Dekalb County around 10:00 to 11:00 p.m and was traveling to an unknown location near McFarland and Old Alpharetta Roads in southern Forsyth County. The patron turned out to be an armed robber who confronted and then shot Mr. Ali and fled on foot from the intersection of Old Alpharetta Road and Currie Drive. Detective's have followed dozens of leads but still need additional information.
