CUMMING YOUTH INJURED IN SUNDAY CRASH

A Cumming teenager remains in critical condition today at North Fulton Regional Medical Center following an accident yesterday afternoon in which his car collided with a pickup truck operated by another teen.

Shawn William Gauerke, 17, was eastbound on Hwy 369 in his 1989 Honda Accord when it collided with a Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Jared Gordon Floyd, 19, of Gainesville. According to Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialists, Floyd was westbound on Hwy. 369 and attempting to turn south on Hwy. 9 when the collision occurred.

Gauerke was transported to the hospital by Life Flight. Floyd refused medical treatment at the scene.

The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialists have filed no charges pending completion of the investigation of the accident. Gauerke is a Junior at West Hall High School in Gainesville.
