Thursday, May 16, 2002 Forsyth County Sheriff Ted Paxton today presented Deputy Sheriff Sgt. Frederick E. "Rick" Evans with the agency’s Citation for Bravery Award. The award is the result of Evans’ actions on the night of January 28, 2002, when his apartment building caught on fire. Putting himself at great risk, Evans made sure that his apartment building had been evacuated and that all the residents were safe. The award was presented during a regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Forsyth County. Evans received a standing ovation from those in attendance. Sgt.
