Thursday July 18, 2002 The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and sheriff’s offices across Georgia have kicked off their annual Harley Davidson motorcycle raffle. Proceeds from the raffle go directly to the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes, which provide a place of disadvantaged children to live in safe, stable surroundings, receive educations and grow up to be well-rounded adults. The Youth Homes are not reformatories; rather they are homes for children who, through no fault of their own, don’t have a stable home environment in which to live. This year’s raffle prize is a custom-made 2002 Harley Davidson Fat Boy. It is one of only 150 made in the United States. It is valued at $32,000. Sheriff Paxton is shown in the photograph above, sitting on the Harley to be given away. In addition to the raffle, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is also sponsoring a motorcycle ride on September 28 from South Forsyth High School to Helen. For more information on the ride, please see a related story on this web site. Raffle tickets cost $2 each or 15 chances for $20. The Harley will be given away on December 19, 2002, just in time for Christmas! You do not have to be present to win, but you do have to be age 18 or over. For more information see the DETAILS or to purchase tickets, stop by Sheriff Paxton’s office or contact Capt. Frank Huggins at (770) 781-3045. |
