July 29, 2002 An 85-year-old Forsyth County woman was killed Friday evening when the vehicle she was driving was struck head-on by a van. Evelyn Aubry Seitz of a Bryant Drive address, was transported by helicopter to Baptist Medical Center in Cumming where she was later pronounced dead. According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialists, Ms. Seitz was traveling west on Ga. Hwy. 369 during a heavy rain on Friday evening when a 1985 Chevrolet van traveling eastbound hydroplaned and struck Ms. Seitz’s vehicle head-on. The van then spun around and was struck in the left side by a 2000 Dodge Ram pick-up truck that had been following the van prior to the collision. Ms. Seitz was entrapped in her 1994 Buick Skylark and had to be extricated. She was in the vehicle alone. The collision occurred at approximately 6:42 p.m. near the intersection of Ga. Hwy. 369 and Charleston Park Road, as the roadway crosses over Lake Lanier. The driver of the van, Juan Sanchez, 55, of Gainesville was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where he was treated and released. The driver of the pick-up truck, Terrance J. Brown of Gainesville, was treated at the scene. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles. The collision remains under investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialists. No charges have been filed at this time. This is Forsyth County’s seventh traffic fatality this year. |
