A routine drug investigation earlier this week at a local storage facility turned up an unexpected
bonanza - 10 lbs. of marijuana.
According to Major Gene Moss, Commander of Forsyth County's Enforcement Bureau, narcotics
officers were conducting a narcotics investigation on July 30 at Browns Bridge Boat and Mini Storage
when the K-9 they were using alerted to a unrelated storage unit.
A search warrant was obtained for that unit and approximately 10 pounds of marijuana, $3,500 in
cash, scales and various packaging materials were seized.
Warrants have been obtained on Thomas Downey of 2915 Bailey Drive in Cumming, in connection
with this case. Bailey has been described as a white male in his 60's, with a mustache. A photo of
bailey is not available at this time. The warrant charges Bailey with Possession with Intent to
Distribute Marijuana. It is believed that Bailey may have left town.
In the accompanying photo, Major Moss is shown with the marijuana that was seized in Bailey's
rental unit.
Anyone with information as to Bailey's whereabouts is encouraged to call our Criminal Investigations
Division at (770) 781-2201.
