Tuesday, October 1, 2002 More than 200 motorcycle enthusiasts took advantage of excellent weather this past Saturday to join Sheriff Ted Paxton for the agency's 2nd Annual Ride For Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Homes. This year's ride, from Cumming to Helen, raised more than $15,000. "This year's ride was almost twice the size of last year's and was a huge success," Paxton said. "We're very proud to be a part of this statewide fund raising effort for the Youth Homes," he added. Enroute to Helen, the Forsyth County group met up with over 100 riders from the Hall County Sheriff's Office and rode in a group, over 300 strong, into Helen. In Helen, the group enjoyed lunch and a variety of door prizes. Next year's ride date has already been set for the last Saturday in September 2003. A collection of photos from this year's ride are available here. Also, a photo of Sheriff Paxton presenting the ride proceeds to Bud Cody, Sr. Executive Vice President of the Georgia Sheriffs' Association is available at the above site. Look for photo #39. |
