Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Deputy First Class Martin G. Nielsen, Jr. has been selected as the Headquarters Bureau Employee of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2010. The announcement of Nielsen’s selection was made today by Headquarters Bureau Director Lt. Col. David T. Smith.
Nielsen, who was employed by the Sheriff’s Office in November, 2006, is currently assigned to the agency’s Warrants Unit.
According to Lt. Col. Smith, one of the primary factors that figured into Nielsen’s selection for this honor was the professional demeanor and determination he showed in his ability to locate a suspect wanted on 11 felony charges in Forsyth County.
Through his hard work, Nielsen was able to track the wanted person to a hotel in Alpharetta where he was placed under arrest. In addition to clearing up a number of thefts, Nielsen also recovered a stolen car that was in the suspect’s possession.
“Nielsen is truly interested in helping the citizens of Forsyth County and is committed to operate under the ideals of the Sheriff’s Office mission statement,” Lt. Col. Smith said.
