South Precinct Deputy of the Month Named

Forsyth County Deputy Sheriff Steven Honn has been named the South Precinct’s Deputy of the Month for May, 2010, South Precinct Commander Captain Ron Freeman announced today.

Deputy Honn, who was employed with the Sheriff’s Office in August, 2008 was selected among his peers for the great initiative he shows in being a proactive deputy.

According to Captain Freeman, not only did Deputy Honn make several arrests for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and illegal drugs possession, but two citizens contacted the Sheriff’s Office via email to compliment him on the quality of his work.

In the first case, a female citizen who was home alone with her children told how Deputy Honn had responded to a burglar alarm at her home.  Not only did Deputy Honn verify that the alarm was false, but according to the citizen he went “above and beyond what he needed to do” to make sure that the home was totally secure.

In the second case, Deputy Honn conducted a traffic stop on what he suspected was someone driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.   As it turned out, the female driver was just sleepy from having been up for a long time and attending a graduation dinner.   She wrote that Deputy Honn was, “kind, yet firm and expressed concern for her safety”.  She also added that he acted with professionalism.  She concluded by stating that her encounter with Deputy Honn was actually, “God’s answer to her prayers for help because it woke her up and helped her get home safely”.

During the year, each Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office precinct recognizes a Deputy of the Month.  At the end of each year, a Deputy of the Year is selected from the 12 monthly award winners.
