Deputy Perkins, who was employed with the Sheriff’s Office in January, 2005, was selected among her peers for the great initiative she shows in being a proactive deputy.
According to Captain Freeman, on July 27, DFC Perkins was dispatched to a person down call involving a male who was unconscious and not breathing. When she arrived on scene she noticed the victim lying on the ground and two citizens performing CPR. Without any hesitation, DFC Perkins quickly went to the aid of the victim and took over CPR. She vigorously continued performing CPR for nearly two minutes until Fire Department and medical units arrived on scene. According to Capt. Freeman, “By DFC Perkins being completely prepared both mentally and physically, she was able to perform CPR and helped the medical personnel in reviving the victim and re-establish a pulse.”
“DFC Perkins is a very reliable deputy and is a role model for the rest of the shift,” said her supervisor, Sgt. Darian Fisher. “She does not hesitate to assist other units on calls and is the first deputy to get on the radio to help answer and pick up any pending calls,” he added.
During the year, each Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office precinct recognizes a Deputy of the Month. At the end of each year, a Deputy of the Year is selected from the 12 monthly award winners.
