Diana Rebecca Lora of Timberlake Drive in Cumming was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in her vehicle, Silbester Grimaldo-Tovar, 30, of Castleberry Road in Cumming, was ejected from the vehicle and was found lying near the vehicle in the wooded area.
A passerby saw the vehicle through the wood line of pine trees this morning on Old Atlanta Road near Ivy Falls Drive around 7:03 a.m. and called 911. When the passerby excited his vehicle, he heard Grimaldo-Tovar calling out for help.
According to Sgt. Chris Shelton, Lora and Grimaldo-Tovar were both employed by Chepe’s Mexican Grill on Peachtree Parkway. Lora was a hostess at the restaurant and Grimaldo-Tovar was a prep cook. Both had worked at the restaurant last night and left around midnight, according to restaurant management.
Sgt. Shelton said it is believed that the accident occurred sometime soon after the two left the restaurant. Lora apparently was driving at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle causing it to run off the roadway into a wooded area, Sgt. Shelton said. “The car was concealed from the road by pine trees,” he added, until this morning when the passerby noticed the Camaro through the trees.
Grimaldo-Tovar was transported to North Fulton Hospital where he is listed in stable condition. Sgt. Shelton said there were strong indications that alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident and that the investigation is continuing.
Lora was a student at Forsyth Academy.
