Deputy Sheriff Victor Porter has been selected as the Deputy of the Month for June 2011 for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office North Precinct, Capt. Mark Flowers, precinct commander, recently announced.

According to Capt. Flowers, on June 17, 2011, Deputy Porter initiated a traffic stop on a white Mazda M3 traveling west on Spot Road for an equipment violation.  During the stop, Deputy Porter observed alcoholic beverages in the back seat of the vehicle and the driver and passenger appeared to be under the age of 21.  When Deputy Porter was interviewing the passenger, he told Deputy Porter that there was some marijuana in a bag on the floor in front of the passenger’s seat.  When Deputy Porter retrieved the bag of marijuana he also located a scale used to weigh narcotics and $290.00 in cash.  This led to the arrest of the passenger for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

“The contributions Deputy Porter has made to the North Precinct have been invaluable,” said Capt. Flowers. “He is an inspiration to his peers as well as his supervisors.”

Deputy Porter has been employed with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office since May 2008.

During the year, each Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Precinct recognizes a Deputy of the Month. At the end of each year, a Deputy of the Year is selected from the 12 monthly award winners.
