In Press Releases

On April 18, 2014 our Ordinance and Permits Unit conducted an underage alcohol operation in order to check for and gain compliance with alcohol sales laws and ordinances at businesses throughout the county. The purpose of the operation was to detect, correct and deter sales of alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21.

During the operation, a total of 12 businesses were checked for compliance with alcohol sales laws and ordinances. 4 businesses failed the compliance check and sold alcohol to the underage operative in violation of county ordinance.

One business failed to have an employee selling the alcohol with the proper alcohol server permit.

The four persons who violated county ordinance will be required to appear in the Magistrate Court of Forsyth County to answer to the charge. Once the charges have been adjudicated, the licensee for each business who violated county ordinance will be required to appear in front of the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners for an administration hearing in reference to the status of the alcohol license.
