OFFICE OF PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

The Office of Professional Standards (OPS) Division includes the Internal Affairs Unit and the Open Records Unit.

INTERNAL AFFAIRS UNIT

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office considers its relations with the community to be of the highest importance. We encourage our citizens to share their opinions concerning the professionalism, performance, and conduct of our employees. Whether it is a complaint or a compliment we invite you to submit it here.

To ensure the integrity, trust, and reputation of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office with the community it serves, it is the responsibility of the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) to thoroughly investigate all alleged or suspected personnel misconduct.  The Internal Affairs Unit conducts unbiased, thorough investigations of citizen complaints and internal allegations of misconduct made against FCSO employees. Each case is evaluated by the Office of Professional Standards and then assigned to the Internal Affairs Unit. IAU investigates to determine violations of the Sheriff’s office policies or laws. If IAU determines that a violation has occurred then corrective action can be taken, if not an employee can be cleared of a false claim of misconduct.
